Turning Disability into Opportunity Through Farming Mr. Angutoko Ben

Mr. Angutoko Ben highlights how disability can be transformed into economic opportunity through practical, community-rooted farming. After leaving school in Senior Four due to visual impairment, he committed to agriculture as a business-expanding from maize and cassava into maize intercropped with soybeans, including rented land to sustain growth. His harvests have enabled him to pay school fees, meet household needs, hire labour, and invest in productive assets such as a motorcycle for transport, livestock, and poultry. As General Secretary of the Terego District Association of the Blind, he also demonstrates leadership and advocacy for inclusion, proving that with access to resources, persons with disabilities can drive household stability and community development.
